2020 has been an unusual year in many ways. The weekend parties are on a hiatus and Zoom has replaced our living rooms for adda. From toilet paper shortage to wildfire smoke overdose, we have endured the unexpected and persevered.

But some things remain unchanged. Chief among them is the excitement with which the Prabashi community greets our most important event of the year – Durga Pujo or “Durgotsab”.   And lo! Once again, it’s time to dust off the Dhanuchis, pull out those sarees, and iron those Panjabis ! Pujor gondho is in the air and Maa Durga is on her way! 

This year’s Durgotsab will inevitably be a different experience as the entire event will be held virtually to ensure everyone’s safety. Saaj-goj and khawa-dawa will move behind a computer screen, but the pomp and fervor with which we welcome Maa Durga will remain unaltered. 

In keeping with past years, Durgotsab will still span two days – Friday 23rd October 2020 & Saturday 24th October 2020. The pujo will feature a virtual anjali, and both days will feature extravagant evenings of cultural entertainment hosted by our talented local artists. 

Both the pujo and cultural program will be live-streamed for anyone to join. This means there are no tickets for purchase. It also means no in-person offerings so please consider donating online!
